Vegetarian and vegan. Those are terms that pop stars use lightly. Many of them don’t eat red meat, but cop to noshing on fish or to indulging in some sort of meat every once in a while. That negates the notion of vegetarianism and makes them omnivores instead of herbivores.
There are, however, some dedicated pop acts that don’t consume any meat — Lea Michele, noted animal rights activist Kesha and British singer Leona Lewis. Then there is Prince, who had the best quote ever regarding his meat-free diet.
We’ve rounded up stars with animal friendly diets, since, as you will quickly learn, vegetarianism is a bit relative and up to interpretation… at least in some people’s minds.

Prince said that he doesn’t eat anything with parents. Orphans and foster kids, beware! The Purple one also commented, “Compassion is an action word with no boundaries” about his dietary choice.

Alanis Morissette admits to being a fish-eating vegan, which means she’s not really a vegan at all, since there’s really no animal consumption in veganism. She has stated, “I’m about 80 percent vegan. My vegan friends hate it when I say that. I eat a lot of fish. I’m obsessed with oysters.”

The singer and actress is a lapsed vegan. Lea Michele has said, “I go back and forth… Everything with being vegan and vegetarian is a really big commitment. You have to do what you feel is best…and what your body is telling you that it needs.”

Kesha may have tough exterior, but the Warrior has a soft spot for critters. “I just love animals, and I’m an advocate for animals rights. I don’t believe in animal testing. If you see me in fur, it’s always fake. Sometimes you see me wearing skulls, but those are all from roadkill,” she has said.

Av is almost a vegan. She has said, “I eat really healthy most of the time, but I definitely pig out sometimes! It’s important you’ve gotta live life a little so I do eat fast food every once in a while. But 90 percent of the time, I eat a vegan diet.”

Outkast’s Andre 3000 has said he “became a vegan/vegetarian at 22-23″ because “I’d gone so hard the years before that I had to do something.” He’s now 38, so his diet has been animal-friendly for most of his adult life.

Leona Lewis went vegan in 2012, tweeting and asking for some recipes to aid her in her new diet commitment. She is a notorious animal lover and supporter in other aspects of life.

Back in 2010, Jessica Simpson was a weekend vegan, something shelabeled “a shock to her system.” Hey, at least she tried it for a minute… or a weekend’s worth of minutes, right?

Pink was largely vegan after the birth of her first child, which helped her drop 55 lbs. of baby weight. She combined that animal-free diet with a yoga regimen. She has since resumed consumption of chicken and fish, though.

Jason Mraz eats a raw diet 75 percent of the time, but he won’t deny himself hot foods when he craves ‘em. He has said his diet “makes me a lot better in bed. Just sayin…” Now that’s an endorsement for ditching meat, right?
